In an open access article published this month at the journal Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, several scientists describe the potential for communication partnerships that involve interdisciplinary initiatives across universities and community-based institutions.

The SciLogs combine the strengths of both science culture and the medium blog. They provide scientists and lay people with the opportunity to interact in interdisciplinary discussions about science in all its facets: research, applications, ethics, values, politics etc.

Interdisciplinarity + cross-disciplinarity have been buzzwords for the last few years, especially in education.The terms are used often interchangeably and without really explaining what they mean. The idea seems to be that by just talking about disciplines working together magic things will happen.
